  • Positive User: Good Quality Wagyu . Will definitely be back

  • Positive User: I usually go to Thailand once a year, I’ve been wanted to try authentic A5 Wagyu beef for many years now so I went on for a serious research looking for a restaurant in Bangkok that somehow serve the real A5 Japanese beef, that’s when I came across to Sumi Tei. They claim to be the ONLY restaurant in Thailand that serves Imperial Wagyu A5 imported directly from Kagoshima, Japan. I decided to get The Imperial Set (3980 Baht) which comes with 4 different parts of A5 Wagyu beef (THICK slices!) also the certificate showing the Prefecture where the Wagyu was originally bred and the cow’s tag number! Very neat indeed. The Imperial Set includes Tokusen Sirloin (เนื้อสันนอก), Tokusen Rosu (เนื้อสันกลาง), Tokusen Bara (เนื้อส่วนท้อง) and Tokusen Karubi (เนื้อส่วนซี่โครง). My favorites parts were the sirloin, rosu and karubi. Such intensely strong beef flavor, very fatty, umami, buttery and completely melt-in-your-mouth tender. For me personally, I didn’t care for the sauces on the table because these marvelous wagyu already taste magnificent on it’s own. I only sprinkle tiny drop of salt which enhance the umami fat flavor even more. Overall I spent about $90 for this dinner, definitely once in a life time experience and it’s totally worth it. I didn’t expect to be able to eat authentic quality Wagyu beef like this in Thailand, I’m so glad I did a heavy research in order to find Sumi Tei. I highly recommend this place for anyone who wanted to try extravagant, authentic Wagyu beef without travel all the way to Japan.

  • Positive User: Nice and friendly staffs. Good value and wide selection of beef from Top Japanese wagyu to local Thai beef.

  • Positive User: Best Yakiniku I had

  • Positive User: It’s all about the quality of the meat. A5 is not cheap but worth every pens. If you are looking for wagyu experience, this place can fulfil your cravings. In term of service ,they almost lost me, but eventually redeem themselves. Not sure if its because we ordered an expensive set or not. A little rough start as we almost walk out, but at the end, they won us back. I would give them 4.5 if I could. Ps., beside yakiniku, the beef tail soup is so delicious!

  • Positive User: Expensive yakiniku but you will get very high quality of beef here, buffet and a la cart available here

  • Neutral User: The place is nice but nothing Japanese! There is no tapanyaki table! There’s a round cooker type thing in the middle of the table about 40″ diameter and charcoal with grill is inserted while cooking your steaks & other grilled things. The staff are super nice but regret to say that they are clueless about grilling food in general! Some of my order was grilled dry while others were burnt! The prices was way over and in general I feel all together the place is overrated!

  • Neutral User: Good A5 beef, a bit pricy if you order A5 beef. Anyway if you do not order a5 marbling beef it would not be too bad. I like italian style sauce. Here, there was a problem with parking ticket validation, but the retaurant contacted me back promptly

  • Neutral User: expensive… For wealthy people… Be prepared for 4000 baht per person

  • Negative User: Not a real authentic Japanese yakiniku, this is a Korean restaurant, see how many Korean items are on the menu they even have Gom Tang lol. If you are expecting an authentic Japanese yakiniku there are tons around the area in Thonglo (says a lot when theres not a single Japanese customer inside in this area)

  • Negative User: Good service and also good quality. But the price of set menu is unreasonable. I can have the same type of beef with the double portion by the same or less price if I order separately.

  • Negative User: All the wagyu was out of stock even though it was only 6 pm

  • Negative User: Ordered the A5 Imperial set and realized that the meat tasted sweet after 2-3 pieces. Server mentioned that the A5 Wagyu was served on sweet soy marinade and we have to tell them not to serve this way. I asked if this is really the case and mentioned that I do not like seasoned sauces on A5 Wagyu. They said this is really the case and refused to change remaining meat to non-marinated. After eating and getting the bill, manager came and apologized because they made mistake and should have put two sauces on the side or asked us if we wanted the sauces at all. Offered only a 10% discount for the meal which we took. The mistake ruined the A5 set experience, which was not cheap here to start off with. I will not go back since there are better options out there without server lying to us that A5 set is served with marinade on the meat. This is your mistake and you should have comped the entire A5 set as a jesture.
