Positive User: This is the best Thai restaurant we had in Bangkok, Perfect food and excellent services.
Caution: very spicy food and also a bit pricey (3000 bt per person),
Positive User: I had 30 hours in Bangkok, and chose three Michelin starred restaurants: 1. Nahm (lunch), 2. Aksorn (dinner) and 3. Chim at Siam Wisdom (lunch).
The TL;DR is that Chaim @SW was the most outstanding of the three of them for me.
Booking seems to be be only by social media: I did it on Facebook by messaging them. It’s a bit weird, and I am sure that the unconventional booking experience puts some off, but it’s worth the effort.
If you have enjoyed David Thompson’s style of Thai cooking (Aksorn and formerly Nahm), you will not be disappointed. In fact I’d say you’ll be more than pleasantly surprised. This isn’t Thompson’s cooking, chef is very clearly his own man, but there is a distinct lineage.
This was a tasting menu only, and be prepared to spend at least 2.5 hours doing it.
I felt that the wine list was limited: I was close to just having a beer instead. I’m quite the fan of riesling and gewurztraminer with spicy Thai food, but had no luck here. I ended up with a Grifoll Declara, Gran Predicat Blanc de Bota Priorat.
The restaurant is on the second storey of the building, and the style inside is reminiscent of Jim Thompson’s house. I couldn’t tell how much was real and how much was faux, but it seemed authentic enough to my very untrained eye in that I couldn’t identify the difference with my cursory knowledge.
I had a good chat with chef. Very down to earth and chatty, we discussed his career in London, with which I’m the most familiar, and his background in the Gordon Ramsay empire as well as working with David Thompson when he ran the Nahm in London, the first Thai restaurant in the world to gain a Michelin star.
I’m going to put my neck out, and probably annoy David, but of the three restaurants I tried in my 30 hours, Chim at Siam Wisdom was a clear winner for me.
Positive User: An original unique taste of a fine thai cuisine in a thai traditional wooden house.
The chef is very devoted, pay attention to every details and customer’s requirements.
The staffs are very nice and well trained.
High quality.
Very recommended.
Ps. Beware of thai curry, it’s crazily delicious and super spicy!!
If you’re not familiar with thai curry please ask for mild or non-spicy.
Four Stars
Positive User: The restaurant is located in a large wooden house full of antique style. The ground is full of plants and there is also a small garden, giving it a green and pastoral style. Going up one floor, the second floor is the restaurant. I really like the spiers of traditional Thai architecture.
This restaurant specializes in traditional Thai cuisine. The menu changes every season according to the ingredients. Come February, you will eat the above menu. There are ten dishes including amuse bouche and rice and dessert. It is recommended that you skip the afternoon. Save the tea for your stomach.
Personally, I feel that the entire set meal is very sophisticated, and the concept of using natural materials is also very consistent. The presentation and food configuration are consistent from beginning to end. There are many new ideas on traditional Thai dishes, but it is not overly fancy. Coupled with the beautiful environment, I think the entire dining experience is very good.
Positive User: Unlike traditional Thai cuisine, the food here is very special. Maybe my expectation was a little bit high due to the Mechelin, the food here disappointed me a little (just a little ).
Positive User: Tasting menu takes about 1.5 hour to complete and is replete with little exquisite portions of Thai food. It was good fun and got us really full at towards the end. Service is great and the staff explains all dishes when served. For the amount of food and effort, the price point is fine.

Neutral User: Only Michelin starred restaurant we went to during this trip, but was far from the best meal we had.
Service was good, food pretty, but the taste range was not subtle, and usually over the top – overly sour or spicy. Was expecting more from a fine dining Thai restaurant. It was expensive too.
The owner / head chef was kind enough to come out at the end of the meal to thank us for our patronage.
Neutral User: We decided to visit the establishment after it was awarded a Michelin star. They decided to only do set menu at night now either 1,900 or 2,500 ฿.
Apparently, there was a filming in the kitchen that night. We ordered our course at 7PM and had our dessert at 10PM. The service was extremely slow and chaotic. The order of the course was ruined. We did not get all of our entree when the mains were served, and again two of the main were missing.
The best dish was old styled Tom Yum Pla Chon. The soup laced with various herb and spices was a balanced symphony of flavours and fish fillets were very fresh and pleasant.
Green curry, coconut cream stir fried noodles and several other dishes were too creamy-rich and monotonous for the set course. Although they were great individually, their richness from coconut cream and sweet flavour became rather flat.
Probably too pricey for the food and al la carte would have been better as to allow freedom of choice.

Negative User: Oh dear where to start!? No drinks menu were offered after at least 15min being seated and we had to asked for it. Ordered a round of cocktail and sparkling water and the water didn’t arrive for another 30min after reminding them several times. Most wait staff speak little to no English. AC was not adjustable and blowing straight into our faces. Out of 15 items on the degustation menu only the soup was good and the starters are average and the main were below average. Fish which was part of the mains were dried, prawn weren’t fresh and the beef curry was very flat flavored and the scallop was tiny, no bigger than a dice.
Negative User: This place is good if you are looking to pay for extremely over priced Thai food that is descent but not superb. I hadn’t read the reviews before I went and only had decided to go because it’s a Michilin rated place, which means that they capitalize on that distinction to brutally rip off customers. The food was good but you can get the same anywhere in Bangkok for about 1/4 of the price. The service was sloppy which annoyed me: since it’s so pricey, one must expect better service but sadly it’s a bunch of children under 25 serving you and are just awkward at every turn. For example, they kept coming to pour my expensive pelligrino water, after I said I could do it myself, it kept going on and I had to firmly say no more. It was obvious they just want you to buy another expensive bottle of water, which is classless.
Negative User: Cute place with a nice ambiance, but the food was average at best. Not sure how they received the Michelin Star. Service was very slow. Cocktails were good, but also took forever to be served. Most of the staff did not speak any English at all. However, must note that we ordered a la carte, and did not try the tasting menu, so maybe that option is better. I am giving it 2 stars only because of the price point and the expectations that were not met. Otherwise, if this was a random Thai restaurant we would have stumbled upon by accident with regular Thai prices, I would give it 3-4 stars.
One Star
Negative User: Food is appalling! Not only spicy, the food comes very slow and the service is poor! Expensive and disgusting! Don’t go !
Negative User: DON’T DESERVE ANY MICHELIN STAR. Michelin commitee and Chef Noom, you can do Bangkok and Thai cuisine more justice than this, what a shame. DON’T WASTE YOUR PRECIOUS TIME AND MONEY at this restaurant. We have been to numerous Michelin restaurants around the world and this is THE WORST we have been to. Long wait time between set dishes, served out of order, missing and wrong dishes served.
We totally agree with other negative reviews, wished we had seen them before going. Clearly the arrogant restaurant with its “star” does not care about returning guests and previous feedback.
At arrival the host lady boast to us that the restaurant is not able to handle the ‘large’ amount of reservations, thus they only offer two set menus. So we had ordered both the premium set and special set in order to taste the entire menus. The food was mostly cold. They missed the palate cleanser and only served it to us after we had asked because the main course finally arrived after +15 mins wait. The host lady said to us that the palate cleanser can be skipped! Skipped?!
The main course arrived in parts over 10 mins and they tried to sneak in the Beef dish for the Scallop dish. Only when we pointed out, then the host lady realized it’s wrong and replaced the right dish. The meal was mostly cold. When the host lady asked us for our thoughts we had told her that the dishes (ie. curry) were not warm enough to enjoy the aroma, she blamed it on us for sitting near the Air Con as we asked to sit closer to the musicians.
If you still decide to go, be careful of being served bottle water. They will continuously open new bottles for you without asking and charging it to your bill. Our party of three order three ice teas and was charged 3 bottles although we each only had 2 small glass of water.
After the host lady had asked for our comment, she asked if we atleast got good photos and told us that it’s most important. What and insult to the chef and customers. With our suggestions they have us a 10% discount for a >$8000 baht bill, it cannot reverse the bad memory and 4 hours wasted. Hopefully no one will waste any more time!
Bangkok food stalls can do even better.
Negative User: Hands down one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. Michelin should be embarrassed to have their star on this. Let’s start from the beginning:
A complete tourist trap, totally cheesy and bad, with fake vines on the ceiling and a musician playing Asian instruments poorly in the corner. The restaurant was air conditioned to the point of being uncomfortably cold. The menus were sloppy and unprofessional. The head waiter was yelling at all his staff and swearing at them every time they made a mistake, which was often. They brought our food before drinks. They brought flat water when we asked for sparkling. They didn’t bring new utensils until we had already been given food. Food was often cold and some of the dishes literally had no flavor. They gave my mother the wrong dish, something which she was allergic to (luckily we caught it) and included an ingredient we asked them to exclude for my brother’s dish because he has an intolerance. An awful experience from top to bottom: poor food, poor service, poor drinks. Do not eat here.
